Well, if you’re like me, you think sequels can never be as good as the original. If you’ve seen “I Can Only Imagine” back in 2018, you’ll thoroughly enjoy “I Can Only Imagine 2”. My wife and I went this last weekend to be able to see it, and I’ll have to tell you, it is well worth your time and your money. I know that’s precious to you.
One of the characters in the movie, Tim Timmons, gave us a brilliant and yet simple way of looking at life. Stricken with a terminal disease, expected to die. He said, “Life is like this. In one hand, I hold my grief, and the other hand I hold my gratitude.” Life is filled with grief, but it also ought to have a lot of gratitude.
I’m reminded at the woman who really washed the feet of Jesus with her hair and with an alabaster jar of fragrance. Now, that fragrance cost an average annual wage. Let’s call it $50,000 if you want to. Now think about that in one jar. But she didn’t just put a little bit on His feet. She put all of it on there and then used her hair like a towel. Judas said, “Oh, that’s a waste. We could have sold that and given it to the poor”, and that’s true. But what he saw as waste, Jesus saw as worship, and she gave what she had. She gave that alabaster jar of fragrance, and the whole room changed, the whole atmosphere because of her precious gift. Remember, grief, gratitude in life, but all of it can be done for the glory of God.
