September 2026

Well, hello again, Alabama Baptists, and welcome to our September edition of One Mission Video. September is an important month as we think about it. Sadly, it is the 25th anniversary of 9/11, and all of us who are of a certain age and above can remember where we were, and the feelings we had as we felt under attack, and the lives of 2,400-plus people died. So, as we look toward this anniversary in a sad mood, as we are, in grief, may we realize that the Lord sees us through grief, and we’ve had some history in which we can live to see the hand of God working.

Also, in the month of September, glad to say this, we have the Myers-Mallory State Missions Offering Week of Prayer, September 13 through 20. This year’s goal is 1.2 million, and we have an opportunity to supplement ministries, Great Commission ministries that need it, because we can’t do everything in the budget. So make that a matter of prayer. Remember the legacy of these two spiritual giants, Martha Myers and Kathleen Mallory.

Well, also, we need to look ahead to Pastor’s Appreciation Month in October. It’s not too soon to be planning to express appreciation to your pastor in tangible ways, such as a written note, a text, a prayer of support, or even a gift certificate, which can be a good way to honor and recognize the ministers on your staff.

One other thing I want to say to you, this will be my last State Convention Annual Meeting, the reunion that we have that we call our State Convention. And I want to invite you to be there, not because it’s my last one, but because we need to come together and celebrate what God has done and anticipate what he’s going to do. So mark your calendars for November 17 and 18 at the First Baptist Church in Trussville. And as always, Alabama Baptist, you are my family, you always will be, and together, let’s be difference makers for Christ.
