May 2025

I never thought I’d say this, Alabama Baptists, but I am tethered to my smartphone. And you probably are too. One of the features I really like about it is the reminders. You can look at your calendar, of course, but they also give you notifications. So let me just do something today that might be of help to you, I pray it is.

Three reminders. Let me remind you to be praying for the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Cooperative Program on May 13 and beyond. We have reflected through the years of the value of the Cooperative Program. It is still important to us.

Second, let’s be praying for the Southern Baptist Convention. We take that for granted. We even take prayer for granted, but let’s not do that this year, or any year, for that matter. Let’s pray for the proceedings of the Southern Baptist Convention that there’ll be unity, and that there will be a Christ-honoring time of worship and celebration.

And the third one, well, you’ve heard me talk about it before. Vacation Bible School. That, to me, is vitally important in the life of a church. No greater opportunity in my mind for an evangelistic outreach, not only to the children, but also to adults, to families. Let’s really make an intentional effort for Vacation Bible School to be one of the most important impact moments in the life of your church. Well, those are three reminders. I hope they’re helpful!
