Hello again, Alabama Baptists. I want to take this opportunity to share with you something that has been on my mind at late. As most, if not all of you, know, I’ve announced retirement plans to end my service as the executive director for the State Board of Missions and Treasurer for the Convention ending on January 31 of next year. Now there’ll be some time for me to say goodbye in various other settings, but what I really want to do in this brief moment is to have a time to express my prayer for you as Alabama Baptists.
I pray that God will give you wisdom as you look to the future, because all of us need it, and we need to pray for it daily. Discernment is what we need. I pray that God will guide your walk. We all want to be obedient, but we need the guidance of God in order for us to stay obedient to Him. I further pray that God will guard your ways. Indeed, we all need protection because we live in a dangerous world, and I’m not just talking about car accidents. I’m talking about the opportunities to slip up, to have failures which may be moral or ethical.
So for you all, Alabama Baptists, collectively and individually, I want to say this journey has been great, and my prayer for you is He’ll give you wisdom, He’ll guide your walk and guard your ways, and if that is true in the future, the next one who stands before you making these videos will be the recipient of that kind of prayer impact. God bless you.
