Hey there, Alabama Baptists! I’m here just to remind you that we do have our Convention in just a matter of days, and we hope you’re able to join us there in Huntsville at Whitesburg. I think you’ll thoroughly enjoy it!
Also, we want to reflect upon the needs that we know are out in our world and in our state. We recognize that there have been significant disaster situations both in Alaska and, most recently, in the Caribbean islands. We want you to know that Alabama Baptists have and will continue to respond to those needs, and we’ll have boots on the ground when requested. Furthermore, we are always concerned about the needs of people who are really food insecure, and therefore, we want you to know that we have hunger funds, and you can give to that; it’s online. So remember that as you look forward in trying to help in this Thanksgiving and yet Christmas season helping those in need.
Well, thinking of Thanksgiving, there are a plethora of verses in the Bible that come to mind in relationship to underscoring the need that give thanks to our one true God. But one that is embedded in my mind and I love for all my life is Colossians 3:17, “Whatever you do, whether in word or in deed, do it all in the name of Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Reflect on that verse, and may it help you be one who is more intentional about giving thanks to God during this special season!
